WE KEPT HEINZ IN BUSINESS Okay, well not entirely but we sure did love our ketchup! When I say love, oh I mean it. Tony and I would refuse burgers, fries, hash browns and anything else that goes with ketchup if there was well, no ketchup! There is something about this condiment that just grabs our taste buds in such a way where we enjoy the sweet and tangy flavor. I just can’t explain it… After reading about what’s in ketchup nowadays as well as many other foods, I’ve decided to change things in my food and health department. We  [ Read More ]

Good Morning!   I know I know….it’s been a terribly long time since I’ve blogged. Tony and I are actually taking up a new found interest – photography. It has been so time consuming and though we love it, we definitely miss our first love – blogging! The other day a friend had sent me this amazing CNN documentary by Sanjay Gupta called ‘The Last Heart Attack’. As you may have heard that the rates for heart disease, heart attacks, cancers and many other deadly illnesses are sky rocketing for Americans now more than ever. Watch how Sanjay goes on  [ Read More ]

It’s been a week, a few days, and I’m still working on these videos. Unfortunately this blog doesn’t pay the bills around here, so we have to hold a day job to cover for everything.  But, as time will allows, I’ll be editing and putting up the interviews that we took down at the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival.  Hopefully, you’ll enjoy watching them as the crew did making them.   Palo: Met up with Kenyetta Bell and his product Palo [Palo means stick in Spanish] and found a classic Dominican drink that totally put me right at home in a  [ Read More ]

12:50 p.m. From the NYCVFF My shoulder hurts, it’s kinda stuffy, and I think I’m getting claustrophobia, but I am totally enjoying every single jam and push from here at the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival 2011! The people here are all flocking from booth to booth looking to try out the next greatest veggie item to add to their shopping list.  Me, I’m nursing a sore shoulder from carrying most of the equipment and also the filming some many of the vendors here on site. One thing that I will say is that the people here [outside from slight bumping  [ Read More ]

Nira & Sarah w/ Fruits

The NYCVFF is no more than five days away, [counting today of course] and we couldn’t think of a better way to build up to this first ever vegetarian/vegan festival in New York, than to sit down with the co-founder of this event. Hopefully we’ll get to see what’s behind the terrorizing bunny high on top of the Asparagus version of the Empire State Building.  So without further ado’, to the questions!   Who is the brilliant mind behind bringing this awesome event to the Big Apple? Both Nira and I are bringing this event to the Big Apple. The  [ Read More ]

The Rasoi Authentic Indian Cuisine is not a Vegan spot, it’s not even a vegetarian spot. However, they do show both vegans and vegetarians some serious love in a few of the selections they carry on their menus. As vegans that we are, you best believe we had to find out if Rasoi can dish out a nice vegan meal.   So with our camera in hand and hunger in our stomachs, we reviewed the Rasoi for our “Veg Out” segment. The Food: Rasoi has a great and easy to follow menu that lets you know exactly what you’re getting.   [ Read More ]

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE-1

Hey blog family, So lately I’ve been getting “harassed” at work because my co workers really don’t believe that vegan desserts are just as appetizing as non-vegan ones.  I have since then been motivated to create a yummy yet HEALTHIER alternative to what we vegans call a “sweet bliss”. What I’ve made tonight is strawberry shortcake with a biscuit instead of a “cake”. You can of course use cake instead of the biscuit but I thought it would be nice to change up the texture and see how it worked – quite well surprisingly. This also allowed me to finally  [ Read More ]

This chili is a definite saver in the recipe folder. This recipe is so tasty, it’s going to be a family classic for years to come.  It’s so delicious, that I’ll be teaching my son/daughter how to make this quick & easy meal in the future.  So good that we made the blog’s first recipe video!  Yeah it’s that good. Hope you enjoy the video and make sure you give this one a try!
